Here’s a quick, cute solution for plants that never seem to get out of the ugly, plastic containers they often come in. I love buying plants (especially hard to kill ones) but I’m the worst at repotting them. It’s messy and expensive. These cute storage baskets nicely cover them up!
- Napkins – these gingham ones are from Target
- Contrasting embroidery thread
I seamstress I am not (obviously!) but a few rough edges add to the charm, right?
Fold the napkin in half and fold in the bottom corners. You can fold in the corners as much or as little as you want – this allows you to adjust the size of the basket so you can measure by the plant, vase or whatever you’re going to put in there.
Stitch up each side of the napkin with embroidery thread.
Fold down the top of the basket. You can either keep it loose or stitch it to the side as well.
Insert a plant (or whatever needs covering) and you’re good to go. Just don’t forget to remove the plant for watering!
