You may recall this cute little napkin from a few of my recent food photos (see banana ice cream and blueberry mojito). Food styling somewhat escapes me; I tend to get one styling prop and just wear it out, using it in every photo. Kind of like when you get cute straws and stick them in every drink you make. I totally do that (see horchata milkshake and watermelon slush).
But this post isn’t about food. Or styling. It’s about traveling! My vacation will be here in just a week, and the packing lists have begun. Have you ever packed for 4 people by yourself? It’s a nightmare! We’ll be flying with 3 kids, 3 car seats and earplugs for mommy. Fortunately Mark does airplane snacks/toy planning while I make sure everyone has enough underwear and their favorite blanket.
And this little travel pouch? It’s perfect for jewelry or delicate stuff. This will literally take less than 5 minutes so go grab an old (but pretty) napkin. And did I mention there’s no sewing? Yeah, thought so. 🙂
DIY Travel Pouch
Supplies needed:
- Cute napkin. World Market is my favorite source for pretty, colorful napkins.
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Ruler
With a pencil, put little marks about 2 inches from the outside seams on the inside of the napkin. Keep going around the edge of the napkin, spacing the marks about 2 inches apart. Cut a small notch at each mark then thread the ribbon through the holes. Pull it tight and you’re done!
Now I have to figure out what jewelry to take to the beach. Any suggestions?
Great idea! I have something similar to this (but not nearly as cute) and I love it because my necklaces stay untangled when we travel!
No sewing? That’s for me! Years ago I was an excellent seamstress, made any sort of clothes. These days I won’t even sew on a button!
What a WONDERFUL idea & gift! So cute & actually useful! Thank You for taking the time to share your ideas so we can ALL be more creeative & thrifty!
finally 😀 an easy-to-make pouch to bring with me for my upcoming travels! I searched for days for a tutorial like this. Thank youuu <3
