It’s finally starting to feel like fall! Temps don’t get too arctic in Nashville (thank goodness), but we are finally having chilly mornings and cool evenings. While growing up, our house had a wood stove, and there’s nothing better to get you feeling warm and cozy. We used to run into the room on freezing mornings and huddle together in front of it while eating breakfast. Somehow in my memory, it feels like it was subzero weather!
If you know someone with a fireplace—or even a backyard chiminea—they will love these spice and herb fire starter packages. They take 5 minutes to make and smell amazing. A perfect holiday hostess gift!
Supplies needed:
- Coffee filters (the flat, triangular kind)
- Embroidery thread and needle
- Dried orange and apple peels
- Cloves
- Cinnamon sticks
- Sprigs of fresh rosemary
- Lavender
Stuff the coffee filters with a small handful of the spice mixture—not too much! Thread the needle, and sew the top opening closed. It’s that simple!
The scent of winter spices will definitely get you into the holiday spirit. It’s the perfect excuse to make a fire and roast marshmallows!
