The bedroom is one of the most energetically significant spaces in our home. We spend a large portion of our lives in bed, so creating an environment around it that is energetically grounded and supportive is a key part of our overall feelings of health and wellbeing.
The bedroom is ideally where we can find rest and rejuvenation, a sanctuary or place to steal away from the chaos of our days. And of course the bedrooms can also be a haven of love, passion, and play. No matter what kind of mood you’re looking to manifest in your bedroom, there are crystals that can help you to create the right mood.
Best Crystals for the Bedroom
Every mineral or crystal is comprised of a signature, highly ordered atomic structure which vibrates at a particular frequency which it imparts upon the space and people around it. Before you set out your crystals around your space, take time to connect with them.
Be sure that they have been cleansed and charged, and spent a few mindful moments holding them while envisioning your intention and what you’d like each stone to do for you. When you’re out selecting the stones for your ideal bedroom vibe, remember that the type of crystal you choose changes the nature of the energy, that the larger stones will generally hold stronger energies, and that the vibration of each crystal can be amped up by setting a piece of crystal quartz near it.
Some of our favorite stones for the bedroom are: selenite, howlite, tiger’s eye, moonstone, rose quartz, and smoky quartz.
For Cleansing + Protection: Selenite
This stone, named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, is known to create a vibration of peace and calm. If serenity and soothing is what you’re looking for in your bedroom, this is a great inexpensive choice. It is also wonderful for cleansing the energy, so if you tend to carry around a lot of negativity or heaviness which you’ve picked up throughout your day, selenite will absorb it and help you to release and relax.
To use: If you have a table or flat surface in your room, set up a selenite tower to radiate its cleansing energy and absorb all you’re ready to put down.
For Sleep: Howlite
If a good night’s sleep is what you’re looking for, howlite is used to calm an overactive mind or emotional distress, which could help with anxiety-induced insomnia. Like selenite, this beautiful white mineral is soothing, and its cooling nature helps to temper any extreme moods and lets you settle into a state more conducive to a night of quality rest.
To use: Place a small piece of tumbled howlite under your pillow (you can even stitch a little crystal pocket onto the back of your pillowcase if you’re so inclined!) to help support restful, balanced sleep.
For Sex: Tiger’s eye
Maybe rest isn’t quite what you’re looking to bring into the bedroom at all! If passion is the key energy you’re seeking to manifest, tiger’s eye is a great choice.
Not only is it thought to rev up libido, but this stone’s alignment with the solar plexus chakra also lends it the power of the tiger—courage, confidence, creativity, and personal power. If you’re a bit shy or insecure and looking to cultivate more of your inner sex kitten magic, tiger’s eye is a great crystal to bring it on board.
To use: Place a piece of tiger’s eye near your bed, under your pillow, or even tuck into your bra for a bit of added oomph when needed.
For Dreams: Moonstone
Interested in lucid dreaming, developing your intuition, or opening yourself up to more spiritual lines of communication? Moonstone has long been considered a go-to crystal for boosting all things dreamy and ethereal. It is also considered (along with selenite) to be one of the best healing stones for women’s reproductive and hormonal issues such as menstrual pain, PMS, fertility, and hormonal fluctuations, all of which can disrupt rest and sleep.
To use: Moonstone works well set upon a surface near the bed or tucked under your pillow. For feminine health support, you can place a small piece of moonstone into a pouch and tuck it into the waist of your pjs so that it lends its vibration near the pelvis while you sleep.
For Love & Relationships: Rose Quartz
If you want your bedroom to feel like an exhalation, a haven for peace, love, and tenderness, rose quartz is your stone. Its gentle frequency helps to balance emotions, reduce anxiety, boost self-love, foster harmonious relationships, and encourage heart healing.
To use: Place a larger piece of rose quartz (or a few smaller pieces) in the southwest direction of your bedroom to stir up some romance, romantic love, or peaceful partnerships.
For Nightmares: Smoky Quartz
It can never hurt to sense that there’s a protective, grounding energy around us while we sleep. Some protective stones can have heavy, energy-blocking properties which not only keep the bad juju at bay, can also buffer out the blessings. Smoky quartz is a lighter protective stone, which can absorb heavy energies while also lending a feeling of stability, safety, and calm.
It is also thought to help alleviate heavy anxious energies that can slip into our dreams as nightmares. For protection, keep smoky quartz near your windows or doors of your bedroom…and your home, for that matter!
Avoid putting too many stones near your head when you sleep, and being sure that the more energizing or activating stones that you have in your collection are moved further away from you before you go to sleep. If you find that any of the stones you’ve chosen to bring closer your bed are affecting your sleep, your feelings of peace or calm, or are influencing your energy in any adverse ways, simply move them further away from your bed.
No matter what you’re looking for—bedroom, bunker, or boudoir—adding a few key crystals into your night time nest can help you to shift and transform the energy of your space and the quality of what you’ll find there. After all, if you’re going to be spending around 26 years of your life sleeping there, shouldn’t it feel just right?
